dicas publishing new MPEG-4 AVC plug-in for Windows Media Player
2 June 2005 dicas is pleased to announce the release of a next generation of dicas' popular plug-in for Windows Media Player, mpegable DS decoder. The all new mpegable DS decoder allows playback of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 files encoded with, for example, Apple QuickTime Pro in Windows Media Player. "Our customers are used to get advanced, easy to integrate and, above all, solid products" said Lukas Gingold, Head of Software Development, "Interoperability is key to standard based technologies and we are ensuring complete standard compliance and interoperability within all our video coding solutions.” A further release of mpegable DS decoder planned for autumn 2005 will offer the playback of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 streams sent over IP networks. This is especially interesting for a variety of IPTV services that have a requirement of content being consumed also on PCs. The mpegable plug-ins perfectly fit into the array of products of dicas. After the integration of dicas’ AVC/H.264 decoder on Equator's BSP-15 and the further development of the mpegable DirectShow filters (MPEG-4, 3GPP, AVC/H.264) it is one more module showing AVC/H.264 becomes more and more reality.
