Equator and dicas Demonstrate MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 on Sailfish™ Triple-Play Platform at NAB 2005
18 April 2005 Equator Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance, programmable and power-efficient system-on-a-chip (SoC) processors for video streaming and image processing applications, and dicas Digital Imaging Coding, Gmbh, a leading MPEG video coding solutions specialist, are demonstrating the dicas mpegable AVC decoder on Equator's Sailfish(TM) Hardware Platform at NAB 2005 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, 18 - 21 April 2005. The Equator Sailfish Triple-Play Platform is a state of the art multi-service reference platform for the triple play market consisting of multimedia entertainment, Voice-over-IP (VoIP), and Network Router and Gateway. The Sailfish platform supports today's advanced codec technologies including MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, MPEG-4 Part 2 ASP, VC-1, MPEG-2, and also provides the ability to support H.263++/ H.264 video phone capabilities. In addition network communication, router/gateway functions, and VoIP are provided in a familiar platform for those supporting IP-STB networking and user-interface functions. The mpegable AVC decoder is a high-performance MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 software component, extremely error resilient and compliant with the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Main Profile, Level 3. It is part of the full dicas mpegable software set for MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, components of which include encoder/decoder software which is also available for Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris, OS X and other specific platforms. "Equator has collaborated with dicas to meet customer needs for a fully standards-compliant MPEG-4 AVC now," said John O'Donnell, co-founder and CTO at Equator. "Today Equator powers most of the world's H.264 deployment. We're excited to extend this to fully compliant Main Profile for entertainment over IP with dicas." "With MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 becoming mainstream and a large number of next generation service deployments taking or going to place in the next few months, operators are looking at programmable, cost-effective and above all fully standard-compliant and interoperable STB solutions. Equator's Sailfish platform delivers exactly that," commented Sebastian Moeritz, CEO of dicas. Both companies are members of the MPEG Industry Forum and are exhibiting at NAB -- dicas at the AVC Alliance booth, SL4101; Equator at the MPEG Pavilion, SL5310A. Equator and dicas are also hosting meetings on the technology at Equator's on-the-floor meeting room, SL3062-MR. About Equator Technologies, Inc. About dicas |
