Online casino games are becoming increasingly popular, with many casinos now offering a huge variety of games. The most popular game is still blackjack, although it has been superseded by video poker in popularity. Video poker offers the player a much better return than conventional slot machines, with an average payback rate of well over 95%.

They usually provide free versions for players to try out to see what the game is like before making any deposit or wager. The games are very similar to those found in land-based casinos, and their main appeal lies in the fact that there are no limits on how much you can bet when playing at home. This means you can take advantage of all your favorite slots and table games at the click of a button.

Online Slots

The first thing you need to understand about online slots is that they’re about gameplay, not just the graphics. That’s why I’m going to start with discussing how this game works and what you need to know before choosing which online casino to play at.

How Does the Game Work?

The first thing you should know about this slot machine is that it has five reels instead of 3. That may seem like a small difference, but it makes a big impact on your chances for winning because those extra two reels give slots more space for multipliers and symbols, meaning there are more ways for players to hit payouts in one spin than other slot machines offer. The gaming industry calls this “theoretical RTP” (return to player), and it’s an important measure of how much you can expect to win when you play.

The theoretical RTP for this game is 96.3% which means that if you played each spin perfectly, spending $1 per spin, your average payout would be $96.30 for every $100 in total bets over the long run. That means that even though slots are all about luck, there are ways to improve your odds by taking advantage of special features like wilds and multipliers, which increase your chances of hitting a jackpot-level win on any given turn instead of just hoping to get lucky by spinning a few good symbols on the pay line.

Roulette

Roulette is a game of chance, and thus the results of a spin cannot be predicted, but it is possible to enhance your chances of winning by understanding some basic strategies.

In general, roulette players will want to play with high odds bets instead of low odds bets since these have a higher probability of winning. To achieve this advantage over the casino house edge, you must understand what bet is best in any given scenario. When placing your wagers on the table, you can use a calculator or apply common sense and math skills. For example, if you are betting red vs. black, obviously going with either color is better than choosing neither.

Black is the simplest bet to place since it has a 2/1 payout. If you are choosing between red and black, then your odds of winning are 1/2. When betting on either color, you have an advantage over the casino house edge. A bet placed on odd or even numbers will give you similar odds, so neither one gives an advantage over the other when considering basic strategy roulette bets. The only way to decide what wager is best, in this case, is by looking at each number individually and comparing them directly to their respective payouts. For example, if you were deciding whether to put all your money on number 8 or 18, you would need to look at the payout of each individually.

The payoff for 8 is 4/1, while 18 has a 5/1 payout. The best bet, in this case, is to place all your money on the number 18 since it gives you better odds over the house edge. You can also use similar logic when deciding whether or not to split bets between two numbers vs. betting both numbers separately. It’s important to remember that roulette strategy will never be foolproof. There are no guarantees regarding any wager placed on any given spin of the wheel at any online casino where live dealers are used as gaming agents or virtual croupiers.

Blackjack

Winning at blackjack is not easy. A team of Harvard mathematicians has shown that in a game with just one deck of cards, the player who makes the most advantageous moves but follows no special strategy can expect to win an average of about $1 per hand. That’s down from the usual casino takeout rate for blackjack—around 5 percent—to about 0.5 percent.*

The researchers used “optimal stopping theory,” which assumes that you know when all the good cards have been dealt and when they are still held by other players or left in the shoe (the dealer’s pile). Then there are multiple strategies for when to stay in the game, depending on how much money you have. If your bankroll is low, you should always fold—that way; you don’t lose more than a few dollars before one of your good hands comes up.

Basic Strategy

Blackjack basic strategy consists of the following rules:

  • Do not split pairs of cards totaling 9 or 10. You can double down on these hands if the dealer’s upcard is an ace, but you don’t want to mess with them otherwise.
  • Double down on all 11 and 12 hands in which the dealer shows a 2 through 6 (but not 7). If you have 13, just hit it unless the dealer has already busted.
  • Split eights only when exactly two of them are showing; otherwise, stand pat on this hand—just like every other 21 total except for hard 16—unless your Ace side-card is an 8 or 9, in which case you should double down.
  • Split fours only when exactly two of them are showing; otherwise, stick with your hand unless the dealer has already busted or is showing an Ace as his first card, in which case you should hit it.
  • Hit all hard totals of 17 or more (except for 19) unless the dealer’s upcard is a 10 through ace—in which case you can stand pat if there are no other cards on either side to qualify for a blackjack. If any such qualifying cards do show up later, however, split your hands immediately.
  • Don’t hit a soft 18—you’ll lose if the dealer shows a 10 through ace, and you want to draw out with this total.
  • Double down on all 19 hands in which the dealer shows an upcard of 2 through 6 (but not 7). If he has already busted or is showing an ace, stand pat unless your hand is A-2-3 or A-4; then double down instead.
  • Don’t split 20s except when exactly two of them are showing and none of their cards qualify for blackjack; otherwise, just hit it—this hand plays itself: Never take insurance with it!

Poker

There are many strategies you can use in Texas Holdem. It’s all about how you play your cards and when to bluff or call someone else’s bluff, but it is also important to know what the other players at the table are doing.

Many people think that this game is easy with a few rules and some basic strategies, and they will make money in no time with great results. Well, nothing could be further from the truth than that statement! Over time, the poker community has changed into an advanced form of card playing where overall strategy plays more of a role than overall luckiness per se. There’s plenty of good advice out there for beginners, but don’t expect it to be easy.

Here are some things you should know about playing Holdem before jumping into any money games:

Get a good grasp of probability

You can play your cards in dozens of different ways, and if you do everything right, it is still very possible that you lose all your chips! Of course, there are other times when things go so well that they almost seem like magic or luck. The truth is somewhere in between; there is no such thing as luck at the table unless one player happens to get dealt four 7s out of five cards.

This is because poker players have a chance to win by being smart and because the game itself has rules and probabilities built into it. The more you know about how these work, the better off you will be in playing your hand. If you keep getting dealt 5s and 6s as pocket cards (the ones with which you make your first bet) with an Ace showing up on top of the deck every time, the odds are good that someone else at the table is going to notice those things too!

Know what hands beat other hands

Knowing this may sound like common sense, but it’s not. You can’t just look at your cards and know what they are worth in the game; you need to take into consideration what everyone else has shown so far too.

If nobody is showing anything special, any pair of 9s or higher will usually beat a good hand like three-of-a-kind if there are no other wild cards out there holding up some other hands. Then the odds go against you because more people have already seen how things play out when certain cards hit the table together.

Watch for tells

This is a little trick you can do to get an idea of what someone else is thinking. Just watch out for the parts of their body that move when they think about something – particularly when it comes to poker because if they have a good hand, they will most likely try and hide it with their hands or some other subtle movements.
